NGRA (Next Generation Risk Assessment)

At a glance: A modern chemical safety assessment combining exposure data with non-animal methods.

NGRA is an exposure-led, hypothesis-driven risk assessment approach that incorporates one or more NAMs to ensure chemical exposures do not cause harm to consumers. 8 It produces a Risk conclusion. Its guiding logic is “protection, not prediction”: if there is no bioactivity observed at consumer-relevant concentrations, there can be no adverse health effects. 9 Its toolbox is built from NAMs — any in vitro, in chemico, or computational (in silico) method that contributes to the replacement of animals. 10
