Bioactivity
At a glance: A measurable effect a chemical has on cells, tissues, or living organisms.
Biological activity refers to the impacts from contact with a molecule that affect metabolic or physiological reactions. 11 In high-throughput assays it is quantified by the AC50 — the concentration required to elicit 50% of maximal activity. 12 Important nuance: perturbations observed in in vitro assays are not indicative on their own of an adverse health effect. 12 Bioactivity is a signal used within NGRA, not proof of harm.
