The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals is an internationally agreed standard managed by the United Nations. It was created to replace the assortment of hazard-classification and labelling schemes previously used around the world. 33 GHS establishes rules for classifying chemical hazards and communicating them through safety data sheet formats, labels, pictograms, and signal words across physical, health, and environmental hazard groups. 34 Jurisdictions implement it regionally; the EU version is CLP, while UN GHS is the source text.
